Okay.. so, I´ve been with my family for about four days now, and i have about one hundred stories to tell.
1. Los Andes----- so 2 days ago we went to the vacation house in the andes. The mountains are awesome, and it even snowed! we rode quads, ate asado /bbq/ sat aroud the fire and talked.. which was pretty interesting seeing that my spanish is severly limited. um.. yeah, it´s really sad , because i think my brain has turned to mush.. i can´t think of the spanish words i need to use, and even worse, i can´t think of the english words sometimes. Good thing i´m good at cheraids/sp/ or i wouldn´t be able to communicate with anyone.
2. Driving with the host brother ----- the streets here are crazy, and the drivers are even crazier, and my host brother sebastian is no exception. My second night here he took me on a ¨lets have Jazzmin meet all of my friends¨tour, and i swear, we almost hit 3 dogs , which there are tons of in the streets. Also, seat belts, don´t really exist here.. so yeah.. scarry.
3. Aliens--- every where i go.. i get looked at like I´m an alien.. but it´s kind of funny.. my first day it creeped me out.. but now i feel like i´m famous. lol..
I think i´ll write more in the morning... it´s midnight and i need to sleep.
Tomorrow, i´m going to Santiago with Sebastian and Cristhian!
xau!

Welcome to Miami
Well.... I'm in Miami. Finally.
This is my third time trying to post this entry because my phone for some mysterious reason will let me type a post and save it, but not publish it. Oh well.
Anyway, so I got in to Miami yesterday at 6am after barely missing my flight in LA, all because of a cupcake ( which now are a symbol of everything evil). It's kind of an embarrassing story of if ya wanna know, email me and I'll tell you. Moving right along, I got to MIA and sat by the baggage carousel for another hour and a half because my bags were put onto another flight. Waited some more for a few AFS kids to show up, and we made our way over to the hotel.
Orientation yesterday was mostly us exchange students talking amongst ourselves and eating. But the one today is supposed to be more serious.
We're checking out of the hotel in an hour even though our flight to Santiago isn't until midnight. Once in Santiago, we'll have a 2 day orientation and our host families will pick us up from there.
This will probably be my last entry before I get to Chile. Email me though, my phone will let me do that.
Xau y besitos!

Dos mas semanas...
Hey everyone! Happy 4th of July!
It's now officially two weeks before I leave for Chile and..... It hasn't quite sunk in that I'm leaving yet. Odd?? I know! But such is my life.
Anyway, this will be my official exchange blog, where I will keep you all updated with my adventures in Chile. Even though I am bringing my cell with me, I do not recommend that you call it after July 19th (the day I leave Miami for Chile). The best way to reach me will be by email at jazzminpatterson@gmail.com or by commenting this blog, which i will check and update at least once a week.
In case you have been fortunate enough to not hear my blathering on about my host family, I am, in fact, one of the lucky exchange students that were fortunate enough to get a host family more than a day before they leave the country. I will be living in the city of Los Andes, which is in the Valparaiso reason of Chile. Thankfully, it's about 45 minutes outside of Santiago, and is a pretty big city in its own right. Los Andes is the main waypoint between Chile and Argentina, so it would seem that my original dream of exchanging in Argentina hasn't died completely. There are seven people in my host family, which will be a HUGE change from it just being my mom and I. I'll have a host mom and dad, three host brothers (18, 16, 7) and two host sisters (11 & 2).
Outside of trying to wrap my head around the prospect of 5 siblings, my biggest challenge has been packing. What exactly does one wear in 39° weather? I have no clue. So I'm bringing a bunch of shirts and jackets to layer with, and hopefully I won't freeze to death. Which brings me to my next biggest issue, I am only allowed to bring 40 pounds of packed luggage and 20 pounds of carry on luggage under the pretence of "packing for a month." WHAT! Don't these people know that I can easily pack 50lbs of checked luggage and 25lbs of carry on luggage for a 2 week trip?! So packing will definitely be an adventure in and of itself.
Chau for now! And have a safe 4th of July!
